Image recognition technology and the top Polish journal

Hey, do you remember the SaveUp app? Last Wednesday our image recognition technology was used in one of the top Polish journals, which is Metro newspaper. Its daily circulation remains at estimate number of 500 000 copies, issued by the biggest Polish media company, Agora SA. Inside, among the other, there was a very unusual ad of the special DVD edition, along with the extra booklet, of the Baby są jakieś inne movie (Women are Different Somehow, 2011) by Marek Koterski.

Plot of the movie is very iconic. Storyline is about a couple of men who drive by the car through the country. Both of the characters keep complaining about modern women, which lead them to expose their own fears about sex, intimate relationships and love. In general the movie reflects the poor condition of the modern society.

In addition to the usual information about the product, the newspaper’s ad contained also a short comic story. It was showing how to purchase the movie using mobile application SaveUp. Pictures depicted three easy steps required to complete the transaction: 1) downloading the application 2) process of taking the photo 3) purchase of the product.

We are glad to see image recognition technology going mainstream with Metro journal. Earlier we have done similar second screen campaign with creators of the Film magazine. Check it out here.
