MOBIP: Polish startup iTraff Technology wins in Greece, beating companies from across Europe

[Warsaw, 4 VI 2012. Offical Press Release] Polish startup iTraff Technology, focused on image recognition technology for mobile devices, won the Mobile Services Innovation Platform 2012 competition, which ended last Friday in Thessaloniki. Company received the grand prize for an innovative approach to the mobile market. Prestigious award opens for iTraff Technology the way to acquire new business partners in the region.

iTraff Technology won a pitch contest, which was the main event of MOBIP 2012 conference. It took place between 31 May and 1 June. Among the co-organizers of the event was the Europe Innova – organization supported by the European Commission Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry. The two-day competition was based on a public discussion between participants and mentors on the advantages of the pitched projects.

On the first day participants stood in front of mobile industry experts. The next day was for discussion with the representatives of the venture capital investment funds. The number of those, who applied to the competition exceeded several hundred. Among more than thirty finalists appeared some companies from Greece, Great Britain, USA, Denmark, Spain, Italy and many other countries.

Results were announced during the Friday’s evening special awards ceremony. The other awards winners are Italian startup Itside (concerned on online payment related services), iMediaShare from Bulgaria (cloud services), Greek, Islamic SIM (services dedicated for the followers of the Islam) and the Macedonian Creation Pal (also cloud-based services). Winners of prizes awarded the opportunity to open negotiations with the major venture capital funds in the region.

iTraff Technology is an Polish company, which developed the technology of image recognition. It was created in late 2010 and is famous for the mobile shopping application SaveUp. Abroad it is known for the Art4Europe application, which allows to recognize objects of art, like paintings and sculptures. Since April 2012 the company is supported by professional investors: SpeedUp Venture Capital Group, Innovation Nest, Rafall Han and Stephane Senkowski.
