iTraff Technology participated in a #GlassHackathon organized, for the first time, in Warsaw, Poland on 6th July. Enthusiasts of new technologies and innovative gadgets made four-person teams. For twelve hours they have been creating applications for Google Glass based on augmented reality. There were three administrators of this event: Google Developer Group Warsaw, interactive agency Kalicinscy.com and mobile technology team We Like Caps!
iTraff Technology, which develops image recognition technology at Recognize.im API, was a Technological Partner of this event. During #GlassHackathon there was a competition for the most creative idea based on IR technology. Each team was given an access to the API and could build its application based on image recognition. The winning team called ‘Proteam’ included 5 guys – Michał Dżaman, Michał Kisiel, Aleksander Piotrowski, Łukasz Sowa, Krzysztof Wróbel.
The aim of the victorious project was building an interactive city game with elements of friendly competition. A user is given a to-do list available in the current location. He has to look for an object, take a photo of the target, send it to Recognize.im API, which identifies the object. If the photo shows wanted object he gets a specified number of points and a bonus , which is exchangeable for a useful service or a nice gift. After that, he can boast of his achievements on social portal (like Facebook), check his position in a general ranking and compete with friends for a monthly award. If user has a problem to find a place during a game, he can use one from a navigation system.
The project exists also on the internet. The team has created an administration panel, which allows to manage tasks and awards. Proteam described its idea as a good way of spending free time. The city game is a great opportunity to get to know interesting places located in the neighboring area. From another point of view, this is a form of interactive promotion of the city. It also supports local entrepreneurs who sponsor awards.
