Future of m-commerce

Mobile commerce deals will approach the top of the mobile market in the future. Their value will probably double in 2017 in comparison to the expected $1.5 trillion in 2013. The power of more than $3 trillion seems to be astonishing.

Customers still like gazing at the product catalogue in the paper form more than using websites to look for desired things and purchase them. This is the reason why companies are trying to respond to the habits with innovative solutions. There are three of them that now are conquering consumer space:

Image recognition – by snapping a photo you can buy sports shoes using only your mobile device. Isn’t  it marvelous? Photo of shoes is recognized by the technology and leads you to the website where you can purchase product showed in the catalogue, print ads, TV ads or even the one you see in front of you. In the future image recognition is going to use 3D objects.

Advanced mobile apps – by putting an individual picture, scannable by the app,  on the product to learn more information about its ingredients, prices, opinions, quality and other additional data. This functionality was used by Sephora (global company of beauty products) which triggered 150% growth in mobile shopping!

Online brand engagement  by using Facebook, Pinterest and other social media (all accessed in mobile version) to promote products and empower brand value.  “Like” buttons, opportunity for comments and lovely pictures grow brand awareness even if customers do it unconsciously.
